The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader and New Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has condemned the killing of Islamic scholar Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka, calling for urgent action to address the country’s worsening insecurity.
Kwankwaso, in a statement on Tuesday, expressed sadness over the scholar’s death, noting that the incident had heightened concerns over the growing attacks on religious leaders and other innocent citizens by gunmen.
He described the repeated targeting of religious scholars as particularly disturbing, given their contributions to Islamic teachings, moral values, peaceful coexistence and the spiritual development of communities.
