The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has promised to confront Nigeria’s security challenges, improve living conditions and restore public confidence in government if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
The former Vice-President made the commitment on Wednesday, November 4, during his visit to Sokoto State for the official launch of his party’s presidential campaign.
Atiku in a post on his official X account, outlined his campaign message, arguing that Nigerians needed a change after years of economic difficulties, insecurity and what he described as broken promises.
He thanked supporters who gathered to receive him in Sokoto, a state he characterised as an important centre of religious faith, intellectual heritage and political leadership.
The former vice-president said his ambition was driven by the need to address the difficulties confronting ordinary Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of living and threats to their safety.
“Nigerians are tired of hunger, fear, and broken promises. Today, they have a choice, a plan, and a leader ready to deliver,” he wrote.

He also promised to prioritise security, create renewed opportunities for young people and make essential goods and services more affordable.
“I will end the insecurity that haunts our communities, restore hope to our young people, and make Nigeria affordable again,” he added.
Presenting the Sokoto event as the starting point of the ADC’s effort to take over the country’s leadership, Atiku expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the next general election.
“The journey to rescue Nigeria begins here. Together, we will win,” he said.
His arrival attracted supporters who had gathered in the state ahead of the campaign launch.
Atiku’s campaign message places insecurity and the cost of living at the centre of his presidential pitch, as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 contest.
