Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has urged President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, describing them as too old to seek the nation’s highest political office.
Oyinlola made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he advocated for younger Nigerians to take over the country’s leadership.
He argued that both politicians had made significant contributions and should now allow a younger generation to steer the affairs of the country.

The former governor recalled that while in office in Osun State, he had expressed reservations about people above the age of 50 seeking governorship positions, drawing from his experience in leadership.
“Tinubu and Atiku are too old to contest the 2027 presidency. They should step aside for younger people.
“When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state,” Oyinlola said.
