The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, over the alleged killing of his 21-year-old neighbour, Haggai Markus, following a disagreement over roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred at Mararaban Vimtim on November 4, 2026, at about 8pm.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroji, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to the police, the disagreement started when Markus allegedly confronted Augustine over roasted meat taken from a butcher’s table.

Nguroji said the misunderstanding escalated, leading to an alleged knife attack on the younger man.

The statement added that the incident was reported to the police at about 8.45pm on the same day by the deceased’s father, identified as Markus Gabo.

Police operatives attached to the Mubi North Division subsequently visited the scene, where they found Markus dead.
