Salihu Salleh, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the rerun election for Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency in Niger State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced that Salleh polled a total vote of 22,965 to defeat his closet rival, Emmanuel Alamu Endoza of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 22,507 votes and the African Democratic Congress party’s candidate, Halilu Yussuf, who got 316 votes.
The All Progressives Congress did not participate in the election which was held last Saturday following its disqualification by the court.
INEC National Commissioner in Charge of Voters Education, Mr Festus Okoye and two other commissioners of the electoral body monitored the election.
Aside from alleged violence in some polling units in Ibeto and Rijau towns, the election was generally peaceful.
