Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Mr Mike Okoli, on Monday, decorated 140 newly-promoted officers from the command, challenging them to deploy professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Okoli, who gave the charge during the ceremony, indicated that 16 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were promoted to Superintendents of Police (SPs), 31 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to DSPs and 93 inspectors to ASPs.
Those promoted from DSPs to SPs are Ebenuwa John, Owodo Solomon, Owohlo M.S, Akpede C.O., Warri A.A and Chukwuemeka U.B.
Others are Salawu H.O, Obosi Herrick, Samson Akainde, Omi Justice, O.P Macaulay, Ibrahim Abdulkadir and Obinwa Ogbuike.
Those from ASPs to DSPs are Sotonye Uwani, Fineboy Akah, Okios Enitomini, Alex A.T, Habib M.A. among others.
Okoli, while congratulating the promoted officers on their elevation, charged them to deploy their intellect and demonstrate sound professional judgment in their decisions at all times.
The CP also called on officers serving in the command to commit themselves to service of the nation and humanity at all times.
Okoli said: “This promotion comes with higher responsibility, so, in all you do always have that at the back of your mind.
“Double your efforts in carrying out your duties professionally, especially at this time that the nation and the world are faced with a series of security challenges.”
The CP advised the promotees to remain steadfast as they face tougher challenges in their career, stressing that they should always remain loyal to the police authorities in order to succeed in their career.
Speaking on behalf of the elevated officers, SP Ebenuwa John commended the Presidency and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of promotion. He said the promotion was a call to higher responsibility to the general public and the nation at large.
