. New anti-graft agency boss vows to repatriate looted funds in foreign countries
Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, after two hours of questioning.
He is expected to take over the anti-graft agency as the head anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the newly confirmed EFCC chair said he was ready to repatriate all looted assets stashed in foreign countries.
He said he was aware of the enormity of the tasks as head of the anti-graft agency and pledged to discharge them with all sense of responsibility.
“My priority as EFCC chairman will be to repatriate all our stolen assets for the betterment of all Nigerians,” he said.
He also said his appointment showed that youths are taking charge in Nigeria while dismissing the reports that he once sold over 200 trucks seized in PortHarcourt by the EFCC.
He said, “I, as zonal head, never sold any asset in Port Harcourt that was forfeited to the Federal Government.
“We never sold anything. The headquarters did that. We don’t know the buyer and how much the forfeited assets were sold.”
