Everton have celebrated another premier league victory over Southampton, with Richarlison scoring the only goal of the encounter.
The Brazilian has scored for the third successive match in the first 10 minutes to move Carlo Ancelotti’s side within two points of fourth-placed West Ham with a match in hand.
Coach of the Everton side, Carlo Ancelotti, said in an interview that his team needed to improve to be able to fight for a European place:
“To fight for European places we need to improve the home run, this performance and victory can help us have a better run at home.
According to Ancelotti, he is hoping Monday’s 1-0 win over Southampton acts as a springboard in their bid to bring Champions League football to Goodison Park next season.
“It will be a dream to be in the top four at the end of the season. We are quite close, but the season is long – we have to stay in our goal which is to play Europa next season.”
“We have a great opportunity to be in the top four and I think we’d like to touch the position,” Ancelotti said.
The Everton manager believes the team will win in their next game to be in the top four position, but it won’t just be a work in the park.
“We have to put all our efforts into the game on Thursday to try to be there. There is a real possibility to be in the top four in the next game, to see how we feel if we are there.
“It’s an opportunity to be there. If we win against West Brom we’ll be in the top four and there will be a big fight until the end of the season.
“We’re pleased that we can fight for that position but this doesn’t change our target, which is to be in Europe next season.”
