Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday announced the suspension of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria operations in the state over the crisis between the two unions.
This was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale.
According to him, the suspension was with immediate effect.
He also ordered the union leaders to vacate motor parks across the 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
Meanwhile, the state government has ordered the Taxi drivers in the state who recently inflated drop price to N100, to immediately reverse it.
Odebola who also made this known said, “Every attempt to make life difficult for the masses would be resisted by the state government.”
Residents of the state have also been directed by the government to reject the hike in taxi fare introduced by the NURTW.
The state government said it has no plan to effect increment in transport fare in the state as claimed by the NURTW in its reason for transport price hike.
