Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has expressed his readiness to resign his position as governor of the state.
According to him, he would gladly tender his resignation if that would bring peace and total security to the state.
The governor, who spoke on Channels Television on Wednesday, maintained that he was not power-hungry, adding that he has gone through various challenges to protect the people of Zamfara State.
He said “I am ready to accept any solution that will bring security to my state. I am not intimidated. If I know that my resigning as a governor will make the people sleep with their two eyes closed, I can resign. I am ready to do what will bring security. I am not power-hungry. I have been having a sleepless night to protect the people of Zamfara State.”
First News had earlier reported that the governor expressed displeasure for not being informed by the Security Council before President Muhammadu Buhari declared Zamfara a no-fly zone.
