Water scarcity seems to have hit Enugu State as different residents of the state have started lamenting the situation on social media.
The residents, in what could be described as online protest, took to Twitter to raise an alarm.
The protest with the hashtag, ‘#NoWaterInEnugu’ had recorded over 14,000 tweets as of Thursday afternoon.
Some of the protesters in their tweets showed the pictures of resident in long queues while struggling for water.
In his comment, @bomaye2 lamented that “750 gallon of GP Tank is N5,000 and it doesn’t last up to 14 days.”
Another protester, @king eze said “I had to use pure water to do virtually everything in my house for five days. I’m in tears and it’s not funny at all.”
@Expose their lies said : “If Ethiopia Flag of Ethiopia with their landlord can sustain water Droplet supply in their capital Addis Ababa, Enugu State water Droplet Cooperation must serve the needs of the people.
@SlimDaddyRadio said, “No water in my house Loudly crying faceLoudly crying faceLoudly crying face. Everywhere dried up. We’re at the mercy of tanker’s drivers. Call those tanker drivers it might take you up to 2weeks before you finally get water. So some persons are compelled to relocate into the villages because #NoWaterInEnugu.”
Enugu State has been known to often experience water scarcity and related issues.
The state government last year declared a state of emergency in its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector.
