Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old woman, Bisola Awodele, for causing severe injury to her husband by bathing him with hot water on March 8, 2021.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday affirmed that Bisola was arrested following a report by the husband – Peter Phillips.
It was learnt that Peter, who ran to Sango Ota Area Command with a first-degree burn, reported that his wife, a mother of five accused him of getting drunk always; picked up a pot of boiled water and poured it on him.
The Area Commander, ACP Muhideen Obe, was said to have quickly directed his JWC section to effect the arrest of the murderous woman.
“On interrogation, the suspect explained to the police how her husband is fond of coming home drunk always without contributing anything to the welfare of her and the children.
“She stated further that on that fateful day, the husband came home drunk as usual, and while she was complaining about the husband’s act of drunkenness, the man started insulting her and her parents, which infuriated her and made her to pour the hot water on him,” Oyeyemi said.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect gave birth to a baby about eight months ago but killed it and secretly buried the baby out of frustration.

“The investigating team have since followed her to the secret grave where she buried the baby; the carcass was exhumed.
“The husband has been taken to the general hospital ota where he is presently recuperating”, Oyeyemi said.”
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further investigation and prosecution.
