Bayelsa State Executive Council at its 30th meeting on Wednesday observed a minute’s silence in sympathy with the deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, over the demise of his mother-in-law, Madam Eunice Eberechukwu Tasie.
Madam Tasie, who died on February 3, 2021, aged 71, will be buried on Saturday, April 10 at Ibaa Town in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Governor Douye Diri, at the meeting, urged the cabinet members to join his deputy in paying their last respects to the deceased.
The governor in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, also commiserated with Mrs. Ewhrudjakpo and her family.
He said Madam Tasie would be fondly remembered as a devoted member of the Anglican Communion, who impacted her community in many positive ways.
He prayed God to grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss of such a great woman, who provided succour for widows.
The late Mrs Tasie was a member of the New Generation Faith Anglican Church of the Port Harcourt West Archdeaconry.
She contributed to development of the church in several ways, especially as a member of the Widows Fellowship.
She also served as secretary of a socio-cultural organisation in Ibaa community, which encourages the growth of education and acquisition of entrepreneurial skills, especially by females.
