The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Agency (Taskforce), led by CSP. Shola Jejeloye, on Tuesday clamped down on 81 motorcycles for plying restricted routes and endangering the lives of other road users.

The chairman of the agency stated that the seizure was in line with enforcement of the Lagos State Traffic Law and to stop the flagrant abuse of traffic laws by the motorcyclists.

According to him, the government is concerned about the recklessness of motorcyclists on restricted routes, and therefore becomes necessary to help the motorcyclists by saving their own lives and that of other road users.

He emphasized that the government would not fold its arms and allow motorcyclists to create chaos for other road users on prohibited routes.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Femi Moliki, noted that it had become crucial for the government to prevent an increase in the trend of crime which is carried out by motorcyclists in the metropolis, especially in the prohibited routes.

Jejeloye said the agency’s commitment to continue the clamp down on recalcitrant motorcyclists plying restricted routes would help safeguard the security of lives and property.

He also called for the co-operation of Lagosians by desisting from boarding motorcycles on prohibited areas, stressing that the state traffic law is in the larger interest of the society.
