Security was tightened in Asaba, on Tuesday, as southern governors meet in the Delta State capital.
Security operatives were deployed in strategic areas of Asaba to forestall any untoward occurrences.
The road leading to the Delta State Government House, venue of the summit, has been barricaded and security beefed up at the entrance gate.
It was learnt that the top agenda of the meeting will include the persistent attacks on police assets and killings of policemen in the south-east and south-south, as well as kidnappings in the regions.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olise Ifeajika, said that almost all the governors are expected to arrive in the state today (Tuesdays).
“Yes, we are happy to have them, the meeting will hold in the government house; after the meeting, decisions will be taken and the communique will be read,” he said.
