SEGUN AYINDE, ABEOKUTA
A chairmanship aspirant for Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Farouk Akintunde, has dismissed rumour making rounds that he would betray the trust of the people if elected.
Akintunde dispelled the rumours while speaking to the large crowd of supporters at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital, after submitting his nomination form.
He described the rumour as a fallacy cooked up by mischief-makers to truncate his political ambition for the post of Abeokuta South LGA chairman in the forthcoming council election.
The LG chairmanship hopeful, who insisted that he remained committed to the yearnings and aspirations of the people, urged the residents of the council to disregard the speculation
“That is complete fallacy. I have remained a committed, honest and sincere politician to whatever ideals I believe in. I am not a betrayer and will never be one in my life,” he said.
Akintunde, while expressing his sincere appreciation to his supporters and the people of Abeokuta South LG, said he was elated to see the large crowd that gathered because of him at the APC secretariat.
He, therefore, promised the people that he would turn around the council with developmental projects and empower the youth and women if elected as the chairman in the forthcoming council election slated for July 24.
He said, “I am elated today that I’m moving a step forward to actualise my dream of becoming elected chairman for my local government by submitting my nomination form to the party hierarchy.
“Enthroning good governance through the provision of infrastructural amenities across the local government is my cornerstone. We will empower the youths and womenfolk to make them self-reliant. Our government will encourage private partnerships for more developmental programmes. There will be wide consultations across the board.”
