An Ibadan Magistrate Court has sentenced a 26-year-old fraudster, Valentine Alfred Patrick, to two years imprisonment without option of fine for stealing crates of eggs and other valuables.
Patrick was arraigned at the court sitting at Iyaganku for stealing and defrauding people of the valuables under pretence of online marketing.
The suspect was arrested by policemen from Apete Division and was arraigned after preliminary investigation.
He was alleged to have stolen crates of eggs, which led to his being taken to the police station.
His mode of operation, according to findings, was to go to houses on the pretext of wanting to rent a room, after which he would go back to steal the residents’ property, usually at noon.
Some of his operations included the one carried out on April 17, when he broke into the apartment of one Yussuf Kaosarat Abiola and went away with her property.
Magistrate Adisa in his ruling found the suspects guilty of the allegations levelled against him and thereby sentenced him to two years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
