The corpse of a Catholic priest, Rev Fr Alphonsus Bello was discovered today (Friday) after he was abducted by gunmen on Thursday evening from St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malunfashi, Katsina State.
A parishioner, who simply identified himself as Dominic, told Daily Trust that the armed men struck around 11pm on Thursday.
According to him, on storming the church, the gunmen immediately entered the church, shot their way to where their targets were.
The late priest was said to have resisted abduction but the armed men overpowered him.
Bello was said to have been taken away alongside an elderly priest identified as Rev Father Joe Keke but his corpse was seen on Friday morning.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Isah Gambo, who confirmed the incident, said that two persons had been arrested.
He added that the police were on the trail of the attackers.
