Buhari congratulates Senator Nwaoboshi for dumping PDP

…as senator pays him visit at Presidential Villa

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday congratulated Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for dumping the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

A statement released by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said Buhari congratulated the former PDP senator when he paid him a visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja welcomed Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi to the All Progressives Congress (APC), after he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying “you are welcome to the progressives family,’’ Shehu said.

He said that Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North District at the Senate, was presented to President Buhari and National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) at the State House by Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.

“The Deputy Senate President said Senator Nwaoboshi’s decision to join the APC clearly shows that the effort of the CECPC was yielding fruit.

The Senator was warmly welcomed by party members,” Shehu added.

Nwaoboshi is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission. He had issues with the PDP in his state and it is believed he dumped the party as a result of that.

The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa and Nwaoboshi are from the same senatorial district.

Recall that the senator was recently discharged and acquitted of an alleged N322 million fraud trial by a Federal Hugh Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
