A masquerade, its sponsors, and the Iman of Kamorudeen Central Mosque, Kazeem Yunus, with two other Muslims have been detained by the police in Osogbo, Osun State.
Their arrest was connected with the recent fracas that ensued between some Muslims and traditional worshipers in the state capital.
Sources said Muslims may be charged for assault on the masquerade.
It was gathered that Chief Esuleke, who is also a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, allegedly led the masquerade worshippers that recently attacked an Islamic group, Kamorudeen Society of Nigeria in Osogbo, the State capital.
It was further gathered that police arrested them after they were invited by the Inspector General of Police-Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) to their office in Oke-Fia.
The lawyer for the Islamic group, Barr Hasheem Adeoye, while confirming the arrest said the matter would be taken up.
FirstNews had reported recently that a fracas ensued between traditional worshipers and some Muslims in Osun State which resulted in one person, Moshood Salawudeen, reportedly shot dead while about 13 persons, including children, sustained gunshot injuries.
