Egypt defeated Australia 2-0 in Tokyo Olympics 2020 group last game on Wednesday at the Miyagi Stadium. With goals from Rayyan and Hamdi, the Pharaohs have succeeded to qualify for the knock-out stage of the football event.
Egypt joined the other African representative Ivory Coast who earlier secured their spot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics quarterfinals following their 1-1 draw against Germany.
South Africa as the third African ambassadors lost all the three group games. The Bafana Bafana will thus pack back home while Egypt and Ivory Coast continue the journey.
