No fewer than six Chief Judges (CJs) have been summoned by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko, over controversial orders that originated from their different states last month.

Justice Tanko, who is the Chairman of the National Judicial Council (NJC), issued the summons to the CJs in Abuja on Monday, August 30.

According to information gathered, the judges are expected to appear before the CJN to explain their reasons for conflicting orders by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

It was learned that the CJs affected by the development are those of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa, and Imo states.

The CJN, it was learned, lamented embarrassment the judges had caused the judicial system of the country with their ‘misconducts’.
