A twenty-year-old woman, identified as Sherifat Suleiman, has allegedly committed suicide in Lagos.
The young woman, who was said to live in a two-room apartment with her brother around Isawo area of Ikorodu in Lagos State, took her life after a feud with the brother on July 12.
It was learnt that the deceased was preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations before the incident.
She reportedly began writhing in pain after ingesting a poisonous substance, suspected to be a Sniper, that she brought home.
Neighbours said they found her lying on the floor with whitish discharges from her mouth, but died on the way to a hospital.
Residents of the area said the young woman decided to take her life when she could no longer bear the physical and psychological assault by her brother.
One of the neighbours told our correspondent on Wednesday that the lady started living with the brother after their father died.
The neighbour confided in our correspondent that when her body was examined, they found bruises on her legs and laps.
It was gathered that her corpse had been wrapped up by her step-brother, who subsequently travelled down to their home town in Ijebu area of Ogun State, for her burial.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bala Elkana said none of the police stations in the state had the report.
He said the report was available only on social media and he could not tell whether the suicide was true or not.
“None of our stations had that report; it’s only available on social media. We can’t tell whether the incident is true or not,” he said.
