SEGUN AYINDE, Abeokuta

No fewer than 3500 constituents, including 50 physically challenged persons, trained in various vocational skills in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have benefited from Senator Solomon Adeola’s Oko-wo Yayi start-up kits initiative across the Lagos West Senatorial District.

The constituents, who had undergone training in various skills in the last couple of weeks, were elated to witness the distribution of working tools such as tailoring machines, paint brushes, hair washers, washing basins, make-up bags and gas cookers, among others, by the senator.

Speaking at the event held at Vintage Point, Ogba, Lagos, in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency(SMEDAN), Adeola said that the programme was to thank and give back the dividends of democracy to his constituents for voting for him in Alimosho.

The Senator, who also gave out cash gifts and certificates to the people that participated in the vocational training skills, said that the purpose of the initiative was to empower his people and alleviate poverty, promising to hold the second part of the project before the year runs out.

He also asked the people to always support the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while appealing to them to vote for the National Leader of All Progressive Party(APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the president of the country come 2023.

He, however, reeled out other ongoing projects in his constituency including road projects, distribution and installation of transformers, renovation of primary and secondary schools with the distribution of Mathematics and English Language textbooks as well as renovation of primary health care centres.

Adeola, while charging the people not to sell the equipment but make judicious use of them to better their lives, said that as long as he remained the senator in 2023, he would continue to do things that will make them happy and improve their standard of living.”

He said, “What we are doing here today is to alleviate the suffering of our people and to empower our people. This is just the first stage of this programme and before the end of this year, the second stage of this programme will occur for another round of people.’

“This training you have undergone in the last couple of weeks, we want you to put it into proper use. And all the equipment that will be distributed today, please, I beg you, don’t sell them because the insinuations we have out there is that whatever you give to them they sell it.

“Aside from this that is happening, there are so many other projects going on across Lagos West. As we speak, more than 15 roads in Lagos West is under construction and about seven or eight of these roads are already completed.

“Also, the installation of transformers is currently going on across Lagos West and we have supplied 28 transformers to 28 LCDAs. We have also begun installation in 10 areas and the remaining 18 installations will commence this week.

“A lot of schools are undergoing renovation across Lagos West. Next week Friday, we will be distributing 15,000 textbooks, Maths and English, to all students in Lagos West Senatorial District. We also have exercise books, math sets, school bags that are ready for distribution in primary and secondary schools across Lagos West.”

He added, “We are equipping more than 10 of our hospitals with brand new medical equipment across Lagos West senatorial district. We are renovating so many of our primary health care centres in collaboration with the Lagos State Government across Lagos West.

“We are in total support of our Governor, Sanwo-Olu, who is doing everything to make Lagos State safest state in Nigeria. We will also continue to support our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we pray that 2023, it is our wish that Aso Rock should be the next destination of our father.”

One of the beneficiaries, who gave her name as Ayo, thanked the senator for empowering them, calling on the constituents to return such gesture by voting for Adeola in 2023.
