Spiritual Father and Chairman of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Most Reverend (Prophet) Samuel Abidoye, has urged the Federal Government to seek foreign assistance to combat the worsening insecurity in the country.
Abidoye said the Federal Government had nothing to be ashamed of in taking appropriate measures to ensure the security and safety of all Nigerian citizens.
The cleric stated this on Thursday during a press conference to herald the 81st International Conference/Convention of the CSMC Worldwide held at the church’s World Headquarters, Galilee Land, Orile-Igbon, Oyo State.
Abidoye, who lamented what he described as worsening insecurity and wanton killings across the country, urged the Federal Government to explore the option of foreign military assistance in its fight against insurgency.
According to him, “While we are praying fervently for peace to reign across the country, we as a Church are not also unmindful of the continuous bloodshed in some states across the country, which is very worrisome.
“The Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry continue across the country unabated and these have led to shedding of blood of innocent citizens of the country.
“Enough of these killings and bloodshed. I hereby call on the Federal Government to seek foreign assistance, to come to our rescue by waging a total war against these bandits.
“There is nothing shameful in seeking foreign assistance or collaboration towards stopping these wanton killings. Nigerians now find it difficult to travel at their convenience; we can no longer sleep with our two eyes closed, there is fear to go to our various offices and other businesses just because of the fear of the terrorists.”
Abidoye who said governments at all levels had had enough dialogue with all the relevant stakeholders like the traditional rulers, religious leaders, security operatives and others, declared that the time for a decisive action had come.
He, therefore, urged government to go after the terrorists and “smoke them out of their various hideouts.”
The cleric also charged the Federal Government to prosecute those arrested and allow the law to take its full course immediately to serve as deterrents to other criminals.
Speaking on the forthcoming conference of the church, the Baba Aladura said the one-week event will kick off on Sunday, October 31 and end on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
Activities lined up for the conference include seminars/lectures for church workers, prayer sessions and praises.
Highlights of the conference would be the ordination and elevation of about 500 male members to the rank of Special Apostle.
