Abaribe defends IPOB over alleged threat on Anambra election

Senate Minority Leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe, has defended the Indigenous People of Biafra over the alleged threat that the Anambra governorship election would not hold.

The lawmaker said the group never issued such a threat concerning the coming election in the state, adding that the fifth columnists are behind the no election order and not Kanu, or the IPOB.

He spoke at a town hall meeting with the leadership and students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.

He said he met with Kanu’s lawyer who confirmed the development to him.

“Who gave the order that there will be no election? IPOB has never said that there will be no election in Anambra. It is the handwork of 5th columnists,” Abaribe said.

Recall that tension appeared to have been built over the coming governorship election in Anambra State, especially as rumours had it that IPOB members had issued a threat that the election would not hold.

But the group had since debunked the allegation stressing that it has nothing to do with Nigeria’s electoral system.
