The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday expressed sympathy over the building collapse that occurred in Lagos on Monday.
FirstNews had reported that no fewer than 20 people died in a building that collapsed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos on Monday.
Reacting to the sad news on Tuesday, Gbajabiamila in a statement by Lanre Lasisi, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, said the incident was very unfortunate.
According to him, it was unfortunate that the building collapse happened at a time the Lagos Government was doing everything possible to make the lives of Lagosians safer.
He sent his condolences to the families of the victims, noting that he shared in their grief.
The Speaker also sympathised with the government and people of Lagos State over the unfortunate incident.
Gbajabiamila called on the authorities to ensure those trapped in the incident are rescued.
