Building collapse: Sanwo-Olu supervises rescue team

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reportedly supervised the rescue team working at the site of the Ikoyi building collapse over the night.

It was gathered that the governor was at the site in the early hours of Wednesday to ensure that the rescue team were motivated to rescue the people trapped in the collapsed building.

The governor was at the site with the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, and some state officials as his entourage.

Meanwhile, update on the development had been given to Sanwo-Olu by Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The governor, while commending the workers on the site, reportedly suggested what could be done to rescue the rest of the people that may still be trapped in the building.

He was said to have left the site around 2am on Wednesday.

His New media aide, Jubril Gawat, said his principal and Odumosu left the scene at about 1:55 a.m.

FirstNews had reported that the 21-storey building at No. 20 Gerrard Road, collapsed around 3pm on Monday.

This led to the governor suspending Gbolahan Oki, General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
