Stop social media attack on ex-PDP aspirants, Jegede appeals to supporters

…says ‘winning October governorship poll should be paramount’

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, has appealed to his supporters in the state to stop further social media attacks on the former aspirants with whom he contested the ticket of the party in Wednesday’s primary.

Jegede said rather than hauling abuses on the other PDP aspirants, all party members should come together and work in unity as members of one and the same family.

The PDP standard bearer made this appeal in a statement by the Head, Media Research, Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation, Samuel Fasua.

He said the focus and common goal of all PDP members and supporters in Ondo State should be how to win the October governorship election in the state.

The statement entitled, “Time for Social Media Ceasefire, Please,” read, “This is to express profound appreciation to all our media friends on the social media and other allied platforms, for your rich contributions to the success story of our principal, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), who, by the grace of God, is now the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ondo State.

“Much as we are profoundly grateful for these contributions, we hereby appeal to our friends on the social media to refrain from launching attacks on former governorship aspirants and other personalities who contested against Jegede at the party primary election.

“As would have been seen, the contests were healthy and needful in any democracy, so as to make you value any responsibility thrust on your shoulders.

“This time round, we should come together as one family in the PDP and refrain from launching abusive words on one another or engaging in cat calls or taunts.

“Our common goal of winning the general election, at this stage, is paramount.

“Once again, we thank you for your abiding support and faith in the Eyitayo Jegede governorship aspiration.”
