Yilmaz replaces Osimhen at Lille

French Ligue 1 club, Lille are on the verge of announcing the signing of Turkey international striker, Burak Yilmaz.

Lille are in the market for offensive reinforcements following the departure of ex-Chelsea striker, Loïc Rémy while Victor Osimhen’s proposed move to Napoli is still in the works.

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Lille have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the signing of Yilmaz and the player has also agreed personal terms.

The 35-year-old Turk will put pen to paper on a two-year deal, keeping him at Les Dogues until June 2022, and he’ll be the replacement of Osimhen, who’s joining Napoli, the Italian transfer market expert added.

Yilmaz, who has also represented Istanbul clubs, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, has scored 187 career goals from 323 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig while setting up 44 others.

He has also played 59 matches for Turkey national team and netted 24 goals.

Meanwhile,Andrea D’Amico, an Italian agent and partner of Osimhen’s new intermediary, William D’Avila, has insisted that the Nigeria international joining Napoli would be a good move.

Liverpool are among the English clubs reportedly making a last-ditch attempt to snatch Osimhen from under the noses of Napoli but D’Amico, who is involved in negotiations with the Serie A club, has played down talks of a transfer to the Premier League.

The Osimhen transfer saga has dragged on and on over the course of this month as the player had to change his agent, and the parties are still in talks over the use of his image rights.

“For now, there’s silence on negotiations until the white smoke,” D’Amico told reporters.

“Something’s in the process of being finalised, but I can’t say any more than that.”

When asked if Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso, liked Osimhen, he responded, “Very much, he likes all good players. The Giuntoli-Gattuso axis is making Napoli stronger and stronger.

“The right step for the attacker (Osimhen) is Napoli, not Liverpool.”
