President Muhammadu Buhari, his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo this Saturday graced the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja to honour Nigerian fallen heroes.
The event which was presided over by President Buhari was the finale ceremony of activities which began on October 28, 2021 when Buhari launched the remembrance emblem at the presidential villa, Abuja.

The Saturday event took place at the National Arcade opposite the Eagle Square in the Three Arms Zone.
At the event the president inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by detachments of the Nigerian Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Nigerian Legion.

Christian and Muslim clerics said prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the dead and the health of the nation.
Both the president and his vice laid wreaths on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as a mark of last respect to the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price to preserve the nation’s territorial integrity and peace globally.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello represented by his Minister of State, Ramatu Aliyu, and the Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd), who were at the event also laid wreaths.

Others at include the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, service chiefs, the Nigerian Legion, among others.
Other highlights of the event was the firing of three volleys of 21 gun salute, followed by the signing of the Remembrance Day anniversary register by the president accompanied by heads of the other branches of government, military chiefs and other top officials of government.
After that, President Buhari released white pigeons, which signifies the harmony of the nation.
