A chieftain of the all All Progressives Congress, Chief Sam Nkire at the weekend cautioned Nigerians against voting a president who blames others for his failures in 2023.
Nkire, a member of the Board of Trustees of the APC, emphasised that voters should avoid casting their ballots for presidential aspirants who “wait for sycophants to push them before they make a move.”
He stated this in a statement he personally signed in Abuja and made available to newsmen at the weekend.
According to him, Nigeria is not in short supply of quality leaders, hence, “the last thing Nigeria needs at this time is a reluctant president.”
Nkire said, “Running for the office of President of a great country such as Nigeria must be a personal decision by a man or woman who has a personal conviction that he or she has what it takes to serve in the position of President.”
He further warned that anyone whose only reason for running for the presidency of Nigeria was that he or she was pushed forward by his tribesmen or members of his or her religious sect, could not take Nigeria to the promised land.
“The President Nigeria needs at a difficult time such as this, is someone ready to take responsibility and not blame his or her sponsors or opponents and critics for his or her failure or inaction,” he added.
He urged more Nigerians with national appeal to declare interest for the 2023 presidency, more especially those from the South-East, adding thG they should give cogent reasons and convincing plans on why they should be elected as next president of the country.
