Akeredolu alleges Buni worked with some ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ APC govs to sabotage convention

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has alleged that Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and a few ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ governors of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) collaborated to create a crisis in the party ahead of its March 26 national convention.

Akeredolu decried actions of Buni while serving as the Chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC.

In a statement he personally signed on Thursday, the Ondo State governor described President Muhammadu Buhari’s and majority of the governors’ quick action to save the party from “internal scavengers” as a tremendous move in avoiding the party from falling off the cliff.

The statement read in part, “We, the Governors are for the party except for the few “Yahoo, Yahoo” Governors (apologies to Salihu, former DG of the Progressive Governors’ Forum) who were hand in glove with Buni to circumvent the will of majority of our Party (APC) members.

“Progressive Governors in the true name, mostly all of us, are determined to see our Party through these patchy parts at all cost. None of the scanty number has the guts to carry out their imaginary threats as reported in sponsored stories. We dare them to leave the party.”

The crisis in the APC saw Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, assuming the role of the acting chairman of the party earlier in the week.

The development followed claims that the Buni-led CECPC plotted to frustrate the party’s coming national convention.

Akeredolu in the statement, assured Bello of the support of the majority of APC governors in organising a successful national convention for the party, adding that despite the bungled efforts of those opposed to a hitch-free convention, the APC will remain great.

Meanwhile, Buni and his camp are insisting that the Yobe State governor is still the APC CECPC’s chairman.
