Lekan Balogun formally installed as 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan 

Chief Lekan Balogun has officially been crowned as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan.

He was installed during a colourful ceremony in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday.

This came as Balogun was presented with the staff of office and instrument of office, making him the new Olubadan of Ibadan.

The installation took place at the ancient Mapo Hall and was witnessed by many people.

His crowning at the new Olubadan of Ibadan followed the death of Oba Saliu Adetunji, on January 2.

Dignitaries present at the event include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Chairman of the Governor’s Forum Governor, Kayode Fayemi; Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.

Also present were the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan and the Speaker of state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin.

Speaking during the ceremony, the new monarch said, “I will not let Ibadan down, I will not let Nigeria down.

“I thank the Vice-President who came to represent the President, the former Vice President, the Ooni, Alaafin and other dignitaries present here.”
