Buhari’s strong ally leaves APC

A former media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Salihu Tanko Yakassai, who is also a strong and loyal political ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, has reportedly left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the government’s inability to impact the lives of Nigerians and failure to solve the economic challenges facing the country presently.

Yakasai, who was first of all suspended from his post and finally sacked from the Ganduje government because of his critical disposition on the Buhari administration, informed journalists on Monday that he had reached a point of no return in dumping the ruling APC for betraying the trust of Nigerians.

He said, “I have therefore reached a point in my life, where I have decided to embark on a new political journey to ensure that I stick to my beliefs and principles, that I’m today, 21 March 2022. exiting from the party.

“Failure, our people say is an orphan especially when everyone recognises it as such, no one in his right mind wants to associate with failure, today it is no longer a story that APC is a total failure that should not be associated with”.

Salihu said, “However, regrettably those in the ruling APC, those in power do not see themselves as having failed Nigerians, on the contrary, they perceived themselves as performing excellently, they douse themselves in self-praise, self-congratulations and self-centred behaviour in public offices.

“Many people today in Nigeria, will rightly see their conduct as delusional while the privileged ones in the office today hardly notice the reality surrounding the lives of ordinary citizens.

“Today no food, no potable water, no stable power supply, no jobs for the youths, no regular salary for public servants, no pensions and gratuity paid, no respect for government agreement with university teachers, no control over inflation, no security of lives and properties and no defeats of the stubborn insurgency, that is the characteristics of the government.”

Salihu Tanko Yakasai disclosed that he joined the APC to speak truth and he tries to live the truth he speaks no matter the consequences, “It was on the spirit of that I vehemently criticized the PDP-led government, now it will hypocritical of me to keep quiet when our own APC government and party have underperformed.”

He said that he had made several attempts to reveal some of these failures from the inside but unfortunately solutions were not found while those in power were averse to his corrective steps.
