Tinubu trounces Osinbajo, Amaechi, Lawan to clinch APC presidential ticket

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has won the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress.

Tinubu won the primary election scoring 1,271 votes, representing more than 56 per cent of total votes cast, while Rotimi Amaechi polled 316 votes and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, 235 votes.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, earlier declared the APC ”consensus candidate” by National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, polled only 152 votes.

Rochas Okorocha, Tein Jack-Rich and Tunde Bakare got zero vote each while Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba got one vote.

Ebonyi Governor David Umahi polled 38 votes, Ogbonnaya Onu, one vote, Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello polled 47 votes, and Cross River Governor Ben Ayade got 37 votes.

The winner, Tinubu will fly the party’s flag in the 2023 presidential election. He will be contesting the nation’s highest political office with the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
