Ondo deputy gov set to dump PDP, picks ZLP ticket

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, before the end of this week, will defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Zenith Labour Party.

Ajayi’s defection from the PDP is coming few days after losing the party’s governorship primary to Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN.

The deputy governor had in June defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the main opposition PDP.

Our correspondent gathered that Ajayi had concluded arrangements for his defection with the ZLP leadership in the state.

The deputy governor, it was also learnt, had already been picked as the ZLP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.

Ajayi is expected to first resign his PDP membership before his formal defection to the ZLP.

It was learnt that the ZLP leadership in the state had begun arrangement to send Ajayi’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission to be registered as its candidate in the October 10 governorship election.

Ondo ZLP Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Olatunde, confirmed the deputy governor’s name would be replacing that of the party’s governorship candidate at INEC.
