Thugs attack, injure 10 at PDP meeting in Kogi

Suspected thugs, on Monday, stormed the venue of a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party youths in Ologba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, injuring no fewer than 10 persons.

It was learnt that the thugs wielding various dangerous weapons such as guns, knives, horns and others launched an attack on those at the meeting, causing a commotion.

The hoodlums also vandalised and set ablaze several vehicles and motorcycles belonging to some PDP members.

They also attacked and razed a building belonging to the PDP youth leader in Iyale.

The attack has created serious tension and fears amongst the residents of the area.

Meanwhile, the PDP in Kogi State has condemned the attack on its members.

It warned that 2023 would not be business, adding, “We will not tolerate any form of attack on our members.”

The party’s Director of Communication, Dayo Onibiyo, in a statement,
warned against any further attacks on its members.

Onibiyo said the party would allow the police to conclude their investigation before taking action.

But the PDP appealed to its members to remain calm despite the provocation.

It, however, warned that the party would no longer fold its arms and see its members attacked or killed.
