The duo of Moses Simon and Akinkunmi Amoo have been dropped as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the final shortlist for the 2022 CAF Awards on Monday.
Moses Simon was on the initial 30-man shortlist for the coveted African Player of the Year category while Akinkunmi Amoo was in the Young Player of the Year category.
With Nigeria not represented in the final shortlist of the men’s category, the country will now look forward to the women’s categories’ shortlist which will be announced in due course according to CAF.
The winners will be decided by a voting panel that is made up of CAF’s technical committee, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of member associations and clubs involved in the group stage of the inter-club competition for 2020/21 season.
The 2022 CAF Awards will hold in Rabat, Morocco on 21 July.
