Fire razes Guinness twin warehouses in Lagos

Men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are battling to put out fire that engulf the two warehouses belonging to Guinness PLC, opposite Sunday Market, Wemco Road, Ogba, Lagos.

Acting Head of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret  Adeseye, who said this on Thursday, added that a distress call was received around 3.30am from Wemco Road,  Ogba, where it was discovered on arrival that the twin warehouses belonging to Guinness PLC were on fire.

According to her, immediately the call was received, the state firefighters were deployed to the scene of the incident from Alausa and Ilupeju fire stations to rescue the situation.

Adeseye stated that the warehouses are used in storing plastic containers and bottles, adding that the cause of the inferno had yet to be known.

While saying that the rescue operations by the firefighters to put off the fire was already at a conclusion stage, the Acting Head of the Fire Service said that there was neither death nor injury recorded as a result of the incident.
