Senate President Ahmad Lawan may have finally lost out in his bid to return to the upper legislative chamber in 2023 as his name is not in the final list of contestants published by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Lawan and Bashir Machina have been locked in a long drawn battle over the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress for Yobe North, which Lawan currently represents.
Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, was, however, lucky as he made it to the list.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier this week ordered INEC to accept and publish Akpabio’s name as the candidate of the APC for the Akwa Ibom North-West District for the 2023 elections.
