Barely eight days after the conclusion of the presidential election, the Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 161,624 results from 176, 846 polling units.
This represents 92 per cent of results from all the polling units.
But as of the time of filing this report, the electronic transmission of results was still ongoing.
This development is contrary to the expectations of Nigerians that the election results would be uploaded on election day as promised by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
INEC, however, came under fire following its failure to upload results to its viewing portal, resulting in the walkout of some party agents on Monday at the National Collation Centre.
As of Sunday, results of all the polling units were yet to be uploaded on the INEC website.
Announcing the results of the presidential election, INEC had declared that the candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu won with 8.8 million votes, while main opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party’s Peter Obi had 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes, respectively.
