The Sunday evening match between Liverpool and Manchester United will go down in Premier League history – for all the wrong reasons as United got humiliated with 7:0 thrashing by Liverpool.
With the win, Liverpool moved up to fifth in the Premier League table, three points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.
Liverpool have sent out a statement regarding their Champions League intentions, but the club’s supporters will be more concerned with the bragging rights garnered in that second half, as the United team, coach and fans won’t be able to forget the Saturday, March 5th trip to Anfield for quite some time.
It was a terrible evening for United; the full-time whistle, indeed put them out of their misery as Liverpool, their old rivals, seemed ready to tuck in a few more if the encounter at Anfield was to be extended.
Gakpo, Nunez and Salah all struck twice in a historic, crushing win for the Reds, with Firmino getting in on the act late on with a neat turn and finish in the week it was reported he will be leaving at the end of the season.
The visitors were arguably the better team before half-time, but they were utterly blown away after the break.
