Unidentified gunmen have killed the councillor representing ward six in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr Karma Agagowei.
Agagowei was said to have been attacked and shot at around Opolo area of Yenagoa, the state capital, while returning from the ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday.
The hoodlums were also said to have attacked one other person who was with the deceased in a commercial tricycle at the time of the incident.
The late Agagowei was among 105 councillors who were elected at the local government council election held in August last year.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, said he was “awaiting details” of the incident.
