Surgery: Nnamdi Kanu’s medical team lands DSS headquarters

The family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has informed that his medical team has arrived in Abuja.

A report by Vanguard, quoted Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, saying that the medical team has come to perform the emergency ear surgery recommended by the Department of State Services (DSS) medical unit.

However, they are still awaiting permission from the DSS to access Kanu and conduct a thorough examination.

The DSS medical unit had recently advised that Kanu undergo urgent ear surgery.

Since his alleged abduction in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria in June 2021, Kanu has been held in solitary confinement at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.

Despite multiple court rulings and a United Nations opinion calling for Kanu’s unconditional release and compensation, the Federal Government has not released him.

Prominent Nigerians and various groups have been clamoring and appealing for Kanu’s freedom.

Many also believe that his unlawful detention is one of the factors contributing to the concerning insecurity in the South East region of Nigeria.
