Adekunle Gold Nominated For Best African Music Act At 2026 MOBO Awards

Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold has been nominated in the Best African Music Act category at the 2026 MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin), organisers announced on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The nomination cements his status as one of Africa’s leading contemporary artists making a global impact.

The 2026 MOBO Awards, marking their 30th anniversary, will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Co‑op Live arena in Manchester, England.

Adekunle Gold, born Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, is shortlisted alongside fellow Nigerian stars Ayra Starr, Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Shallipopi and Wizkid, as well as Uganda’s Joshua Baraka, Ghana’s Moliy and South Africa’s Tyla.

The Best African Music Act category recognises artists whose work has significantly influenced music both in Africa and internationally.

Public voting is open for select categories ahead of the ceremony, which celebrates excellence in music of Black origin across multiple genres.

Adekunle Gold has built a reputation for blending Afro‑fusion with highlife, soul and contemporary pop, establishing himself as one of Africa’s most versatile musical voices.

His 2025 album Fuji received critical acclaim and contributed to his growing international profile.

The MOBO Awards nomination follows a year of continued recognition for Adekunle Gold, affirming his influence as a trailblazer in African music.

Final winners will be announced at the ceremony.
