The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State on Friday successfully conducted ward congresses across all 361 wards, a development party officials say signals a strong footing for the 2027 elections.
Chairman of the Ward and Local Government Congress Appeal Committee, Jamilu Uwais-Zaki, described the exercise as transparent, fair, and orderly.
Speaking during a joint briefing on Saturday in Katsina, he said the congresses reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, discipline, and unity.
“The outcome attests to the fairness, transparency, and local conduct of the screening committee across all wards,” Uwais-Zaki said. He added that no appeals, petitions, or complaints were submitted following the exercise.

Bashir Ibrahim-Boni, chairman of the screening committee, said the verification process was conducted without incident.
“We ensured that the membership status of all candidates was verified and that all required documents were submitted before the congress,” he said, commending the Local Organising Committee for their support.
Abdulkadir Mamman-Nasir, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and Chief of Staff to Governor Dikko Radda, said the simultaneous ward congresses were designed to produce party leaders who would strengthen the APC and drive development in line with the party constitution.
He noted that improved security across the state allowed free access to all wards and local government areas.
