The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned judgment in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) suit seeking the final forfeiture of 57 properties linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), until Friday, July 10, 2026.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik had fixed Monday, July 6, 2026, for the ruling after parties adopted their final written addresses on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The judgment was, however, deferred to the new date.
The EFCC is asking the court to permanently forfeit the properties, valued at over ₦212 billion, alleging they are proceeds of corruption and abuse of office.

The assets are located in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, Kaduna and Kebbi states.
Arguing the case, EFCC counsel Jibrin Okutepa (SAN) urged the court to grant the application, contending that the respondents failed to account for the sources of funds used to acquire the properties.
Malami’s lawyer, Adedayo Adedeji (SAN), opposed the application, insisting the assets were lawfully acquired and that the EFCC had not presented sufficient evidence to warrant a final forfeiture.
Justice Abdulmalik is expected to deliver judgment on Friday, July 10, 2026, on whether the interim forfeiture order will be made permanent.
