Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has rewarded the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) champions, Bayelsa Queens FC, for their historic victory, pledging more support as they prepare for continental engagements.
The governor hosted the team on Wednesday during the 167th Executive Council Meeting at the Government House, Yenagoa, where he received the players, technical crew, and management, along with their giant gold trophy.
As part of the celebration, Diri announced cash rewards for all those who contributed to the success, including players, officials, and board members. He also assured the team of government’s commitment to ensuring their successful participation in this year’s WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
“In addition to these rewards, I have directed an immediate review of the salaries of players of both Bayelsa Queens and Bayelsa United FC. This is to spur them to greater glory,” the governor said.
