Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday interrogated former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, over allegations of financial misconduct, including procurement violations and the diversion of ₦138.4 million from the ministry’s 2023 budget.
The ex-minister reportedly arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11 a.m. for questioning regarding the alleged mismanagement of funds earmarked for the P-BAT Cares for Women Initiative, a project aimed at supporting vulnerable women. Investigators claim that funds intended for the initiative were instead funneled for personal use.

Sources within the anti-graft agency confirmed that Kennedy-Ohanenye remains in custody without administrative bail as investigations continue. The EFCC is said to be scrutinizing financial records and procurement processes linked to her tenure to determine the extent of the alleged fraud.
The case has sparked public interest, with calls for transparency in the handling of government funds allocated for social welfare programs.
